Top 5 Bratislava attractions and places to see |
|
|
We were asked to pick our personal top five places in Bratislava centre
you can visit on foot in less than three hours. It comes with no
surprise that it also more or less match the audio tour we prepared.
This is my (Brano's) personal list:
1) Main Square -
never-stopping heart of town. During the day, just sit next to the
statue of Napoleon's soldier, look at the tourists passing around and
guess from which country they are coming. It is changing completely
during Christmas markets- quite crowdy but you will never be cold there.
2) Garden behind Grassalkovich (President's) Palace close to the Michael's Gate- if you want to calm down for a while. On Saturdays, it is also popular place for wedding couples to be photographed.
3) Summer Drink at Michalska/Venturska street (also known as Corso)- any location on the street from Michael's Gate to Bird Fountain. No matter if you take a beer in pub or cocktail in bar, make sure you sit outside (if the weather is nice) and can watch the passing crowds.
4) Circus Barok- discotheque-boat on the Danube
anchored close to the New Bridge- live also during weekdays, popular
ending of many parties after pubs are closing.
5) Internet surfing at Primatial Square- free wi-fi Internet access on the square, sponsored by city mayor.
and one extra place- St. Andrew's cemetary (Ondrejsky
cintorin)- an old cemetary on the edge of the town center is a great
reflection of multilingual and multinational past of Bratislava. It is
struggling with proper marking for foreign travellers so it is of more
use for locals.
