We
are proud to announce the arrival of the new member of BratislavaAudioTour.com family. Today we are launching the Audio/Video Bratislava Guide for iPhone and iPod. As we announced couple of weeks ago, we have
prepared the video file format compatible with the most Apple
products- video iPod, iPod Touch and old and new iPhone 3G.
This
is a revolutionary step- almost each world capital now have self-guided
audio tour but video format for self-guided tour is very rare (at
least, we are not aware of any).
Read more for which product to choose now:
Benefits of audio MP3:
- interoperability- you can play MP3 on literally any device;
- smaller size- 12 audio tracks have in total about 40MB.
Benefits of video MP4:
- easier orientation- you can instantly check on display of your device which monument we are talking about;
- more information- tracks include also the extra
pictures for better illustration- portraits of people described,
pictures from interior, etc.
Drawbacks for MP4 are obvious- there is only limited number of devices which can play these files- we have them currently optimized for iPhone and iPod (using H.264
video). You may check if your device supports it by downloading the
Introduction file offered for free. Even then there is still a chance-
slightly more technically skilled users can easily convert it to its
special format (like 3GP for Nokia or wmv for Windows portables) using
the video converting SW. We recommend free MediaCoder for this purpose.
The MP4 files are also slightly bigger that pure audio. Our 12 tracks
have about 60MB (tracks ranges from 4-6MB) but this is should not a
practical concern for you given the benefits you get with video.
And do not forget, we did not want to make a documentary movie! You will be on the
spot in real time having a real experience which is much nicer than any
virtual reality. Hence you should look around and not be fully occupied
with watching tiny display of your portable device. Purpose
of our video is to better illustrate the Bratislava story. Therefore the
video track consists of static pictures and maps as you can see also on the sample published on youtube:
Last but not least- we want to thank all of you who
ordered our tour since our start in June. Your support helps us to keep
working.
Therefore we decided to offer a free download of this video tour to all
customers who ordered Bratislava Audio Tour until today August, 20th,
2008. Just send us your request via mail with your mail address. The offer for these customers is valid until the end of September 2008.
